Teacher's notes

What an amazing week we had this past week. Our Morning Meetings were active and included review of subjects and predicates, using commas in a list in a sentence, common and proper nouns, AND classroom expectations. The kids did an amazing job walking through our first reading comprehension test. Taking online assessments requires a different kind of perseverance and GRIT, and the kids showed they have it. and on Friday, we dove into multiplication facts with a challenging MIXED UP multiplication chart. Kids worked together to problem solve the missing factors and products.

We continue to practice waiting for ALL instructions to be given BEFORE moving to follow them. I ask students to wait and listen to ALL directions first. I try to limit the steps they are following to 3 or 4. It can be hard to listen to every one before starting to act, but it is such an important skill. You can practice at home, too. When giving directions or asking you child to do something ask for a listening body. They should turn and look at you and their hands should quiet which means not playing with anything or doing anything. Then give the directions in order, ask for them to be repeated back and then say GO. It is my intention to have this skill mastered by all students by October conferences.

We will be setting SMART GOALS over the next few weeks based on our projected MAP growth for the December testing period. You will get a copy of your child's SMART GOALS to check in with them and their progress..

Every week as part of our enrichment time 4th grade will be using Maker's Space.

We could use many more donations to help them create. Here is a list of things we could use. Simply drop off items in the office or send them with your child.
