The MHS band will be participating in Muskegon's annual Labor Day Parade on September 1st. This document provides all essential information for the event.
9:30 AM - Call time in MHS band room
10:00 AM - Load buses at MHS
10:25 AM - Arrive at parade staging area (5th & Western Ave)
10:30 AM - Line up & warm up at staging area
11:00 AM - Parade begins (4th & Western Ave)
11:45 AM - Parade ends at Hackley Park
12:00 PM - Load buses at Hackley Park
12:30 PM - Arrive back at MHS
Shirt: Power of Dreams shirt from band camp
Bottom: Black shorts or pants (NO leggings)
Shoes: Athletic shoes or Drillmasters (NO Crocs, slides, or HeyDudes)
Where to Watch: Best viewing areas are along Western Avenue and Clay Avenue
What Students Bring:
Instrument (cases stay on bus)
Leave personal items at home or in MHS band room
Start: 4th & Western Avenue → North on Western Avenue → Right on Jefferson Street → Right on Clay Avenue → End at Hackley Park
Distance: Approximately 1 mile

What if my child is late to 9:30 AM call time?
Contact director immediately. Late arrivals may miss the bus but can meet the band downtown prior to the start of the parade.
What if my child feels sick during the parade?
Students should notify the nearest chaperone or director immediately.
What if my child doesn't have their Power of Dreams shirt?
Contact the band director immediately. There are limited backup shirts available.

WHAT TO KNOW
Will my student have to stay for the entire game?
Yes, your student is expected to stay for the entirety of the game. We will dismiss as a band and students are free to leave once their instrument and uniform are put away.
Can parents sit with students in the stands?
Parents may sit in the allotted seats behind the band for the game.
Where can I purchase tickets for the game?
Tickets may be purchased in the Muskegon High School Athletics Office or at Hackley Stadium the day of the game. Your student does not need a ticket; they will get in for free. In addition, any chaperones/volunteers will get in free of cost.
Where should my student be dropped off the evening of the performance?
Students should be dropped off at Muskegon High School (Sanford entrance). The doors to the cafeteria will be open, and students will walk upstairs upon entering.

6:30 AM – Call Time at Muskegon HS

Grab instrument, loading crew loads trailer
Get into uniform after loading your instrument. Jackets may stay off while on the bus.
7:20 AM – Load Buses
Check for all belongings (all parts of uniform, instrument, etc)
7:30 AM – Depart for Kenowa Hills HS
8:15 AM – Arrive at Kenowa Hills HS
8:20 AM– Unload buses & trailer (everyone helps!)

Important Questions
Will food be provided for my student?
Yes, your student will receive a snack bag upon loading the bus to Kenowa Hills. Lunch will be provided either at Kenowa Hills or upon returning from the competition.
I am interested in chaperoning. How do I sign-up?

Can my student leave with me at the conclusion of the competition?
Yes, your student may leave with you. A parent must speak to a director before leaving. The student is also responsible for finding someone to return their instrument and uniform to MHS.

Is Halftime Highlights a ticketed event?
No, Halftime Highlights is a free event. Donations for the band program are always welcome and appreciated.

The auditorium will open at 6:00 PM.
Which entrance to Muskegon High School should I use?
Please use the main auditorium entrance on Southern Avenue, near the cafeteria. This will be the unlocked entrance.
