Mrs. Paternina is in her 3rd year of teaching at Muskegon Public Schools. She attended Northwestern State University in Louisiana and received a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance. While at Northwestern State, she served as a drum major for the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band for 3 years. Additionally, Mrs. Paternina attended Central Michigan University and received a Master's Degree in Wind Band Conducting and a Master's Degree in Flute Performance. She served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the CMU Bands and Flute Studio. She currently serves as the Director of Bands for Muskegon Public Schools in Muskegon, Michigan, teaching 6-12th grade.
As a performer, Mrs. Paternina has performed with the Midland Symphony Orchestra, Natchitoches Symphony Orchestra, Red River Winds Orchestra, and performed in Bunol, Spain with her college Wind Symphony. In her free time, Mrs. Paternina enjoys running, kayaking, reading, and cooking Colombian and Cajun food with her husband, Juan.

Miss. Dawkins is a dedicated music educator and proud native of Muskegon, Michigan. She began her musical journey at Reeths-Puffer High School, graduating in 2014, and continued her academic pursuits at Muskegon Community College, where she earned her Associate of Science and Arts in 2016. Her passion for music education led her to Grand Valley State University, where she completed her Bachelor of Music Education in 2020.
Following graduation, Miss. Dawkins accepted a position as Assistant Band Director at Benton Harbor Area Schools, gaining valuable experience and deepening her commitment to student growth through music. After a year, she returned to her hometown and joined the Muskegon Public Schools team, where she currently serves as Assistant Director of Bands at Charles Hackley Middle School and Muskegon High School. Now in her fourth year in this role, she continues to inspire young musicians with her energy, creativity, and dedication.
Outside the band room, Miss. Dawkins enjoys spending time with her dog on long walks, cooking, and playing video games. Her blend of warmth, discipline, and creativity fosters a supportive and engaging environment for students, helping build a strong and spirited band program within Muskegon Public Schools.
