This week has brought some exciting new developments to our construction progress at Mountain Way School!  With the installation of the construction office trailer, our contractor, Mr. Fusaro has been on-site and actively moving the project forward.  Earlier this week, his crew was hard at work preparing the perimeter of the construction zone with the installation of the silt fence to prevent any potential soil erosion during the construction process.  They also removed the old playground surround, the shade structure, and the old funnel ball poles.  The double gate on the fence has been removed as well to make room for both construction vehicles and supply deliveries.  The area has been resecured with construction fencing to ensure the safety and security of the area.

Later this week, the crew will begin breaking up the existing asphalt in the area where the addition will be built.  Next week, the machinery that is used for the foundation is being delivered and on the Monday after Thanksgiving we will start to see the beginning of our building process.  We are fortunate that the contractor, in collaboration with the engineers and the architect, were able to design a foundation process that limits the degree of excavation of the site.  As a result, we will see a significant reduction in dump truck traffic and related noise.  Additionally, the new method for establishing the foundation will provide for a much quicker timeline reducing the initial phase of the project from 6-8 weeks to approximately 14 days. This is a  huge benefit both with regard to the reduction of noise/traffic as well as expedited timeline for the initial phase of construction.  We are grateful to Mr. Fusaro and all of those involved in the process of making this adjustment to the project.  We are still on track for our August 17th, 2024 project completion!
