• Students attend a 30-minute small group lesson once per week.

• Lessons occur on the same day of the week, depending on which school your student attends.

• Lessons begin in October.

• Students have class together as a full Band or a full Orchestra.

• Large Group classes are either before or after school, depending on which school your student attends.

• Large Group classes begin in November.

• There are a total of 8 Large Group classes during the school year that your student is expected to attend.

It's an MPSD tradition! The week before Winter Break, the 5th grade Band and Orchestra students travel around their school to perform for students and staff!

In April, your student will share what they have learned with family and friends at their very first Band or Orchestra concert!

During this optional two-week summer school course, students entering grades 6-8 prepare music for a concert at the Washington Park bandshell on the last day. Students play games, meet new friends, and there might even be pizza involved!
