Small Group Instruction
Small Group Instruction
Students in 5th Grade Band or Orchestra attend a 30-minute small group lesson once per week.
Lessons occur on the same day of the week.
5th Grade small group lessons begin in October.
Large Group Instruction
Large Group Instruction
Students have class together as a full Band or Orchestra every other week.
Large Group classes are held during Intervention & Enrichment (I/E) Period.
5th Grade Large Group classes begin in November.
Winter Caroling

It's an MPSD tradition! The week before Winter Break, the 5th grade Band and Orchestra students travel around school to perform for students and staff!
Concerts
Concerts
5th Grade students share what they have learned with family and friends at their very first Band or Orchestra concert in April!
Summer Band and Orchestra
Summer Band and Orchestra
During this optional two-week summer school course, students entering grades 6-8 prepare music for a concert at the Washington Park bandshell on the last day. Students play games, meet new friends, and there might even be pizza involved!
