Objective: 

• Understand the role of a producer.

• Know the purpose of a DAW in digital music making.

• Explore QGrooves Plus.

• Produce a song using QGroves Plus.

Overview: 

• Discuss the role of music producers and explore different types.

• Identify instruments and review chords and harmony with a Quaver video.

• Analyze QGrooves Plus loops and the importance of chord alignment in compositions.

• Introduce Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and QGrooves Plus.

• Learn a 12-step process for producing music in QGrooves Plus.

Challenges:

1. Mixing Challenge: Create and review your mix.

2. Drum Challenge: Focus on mixing drum elements.

3. Bass/Harmony Challenge: Mix tracks with bass and harmony.

4. Bass Loop Challenge: Build and mix a bass loop track.

5. Final Challenge: Complete a complex mix.

Activities:

• Assess understanding of production concepts.

• Collaborate on a 4-measure class composition.

Guidelines: 

• Create an original song in QGrooves Plus (8 measures minimum).

• Follow provided chord progressions and include drums, bass, synth/brass, percussion, keyboards, and guitar.

• Apply mixing techniques and present songs to the class.

• AE17.MU.4.4 Use standard and/or iconic notation and/or recording technology to document personal rhythmic, melodic, and simple harmonic musical ideas.

• AE17.MU.4.6 Present the final version of personally created music to others and explain expressive intent.
