What is open access?
Students can come to the library whenever there is a need. The library is open from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm. Students may come to the library at any time with their teacher's permission.
What is flexible scheduling?
Flexible scheduling accommodates teachers based on their needs and the student's needs. The teacher can schedule extra time in the library for a project. This time can vary in length and number of days/hours needed. Students or small groups can also come in for research projects or book studies.
Why do you use open access, flexible scheduling?
It ties the library use to classroom objectives (21st Century Information Skills), according to research increases student achievement, provides a place where students can work independently, it allows the library to be a "learning laboratory", provides equity of access, helps teachers meet individual needs of the students, and is mandated by the state of Alabama.
