Collaboration in the Library: Teachers and the librarian work together to continue learning from the classroom while at the same time learning library skills, such as book location and safe searching practices. Below, we are learning about force and motion. The students researched Newton's Laws and force and motion experiments. The students then made a car out of Legos, drove it down the incline three times, and measured the distance each time. They analyzed their experiment and improved on it each time. They had to describe their experiment using proper physics language. I introduced books on physics as well as fiction books that incorporated physics in them, and how to locate them in the library.
About Me
My name is Dorothy Hunt, and I have been teaching since 1984. I have been National Board Certified since 2007. I love to have fun learning so the students will enjoy themselves and remember the lesson.
I am married to Jimmy Hunt. We have 5 children and 6 grandchildren living in Montgomery, Birmingham, Franklin, TN., Pensacola, and Jacksonville, FL.. We are active in our church.
As a school librarian, I try to stay informed about current events by actively engaging in professional development, following educational news sources, utilizing social media, attending conferences, subscribing to relevant newsletters, and collaborating with teachers to understand classroom curriculum and student interests, ensuring their library collection reflects a diverse range of perspectives and timely topics
