The Descent of Hamantha

This series represents a series of dreams that I had, where there was a rat named Hamantha who would answer any one question that I had. This dream kept recurring for 2 years in many different forms, until one day, when at the end of my dream, I kicked this rat down the stairs. I woke up immediately feeling the most fear I have felt in my whole life, and I haven’t dreamed since. This was the inspiration for the original piece Hamantha (2019). This series takes on the final part of this story, where I kicked Hamantha down the stairs, and shows The Descent of Hamantha. I wanted this piece to show movement, and contrast of colors through the swirl of colors connecting the piece. The piece also shows movement through the presentation of the piece in its descent.

Baby Cereal

This piece is one of a series which contains three different artworks. All of them are connected because they are all tiny boxes of cereal. My goal for this project was to make them look as much like a cereal box as possible. I tried to pay a lot of my attention to the details so I mostly worked with a very small brush. The meaning of my artwork is just to show how small I can make art, the whole project was pretty experimental and I wanted to see how small I could go.

Eerie Romance

My goals for this piece were to definitely create a challenge of color and value. The most difficult thing for me was the value of this piece. It was hard to find a corresponding color that made the piece pop and collab at the same time. I used a lot of black for the background. I really like the still-life style of things, because it’s so easy and nice to look at too. The colors can be anything in the still-life set too. I enjoyed the challenge and its something that I’ll do again.

Color, unity, and pattern connect these pieces. I used the same colors and the same technique for all of the pieces. I chose my colors purposefully and tried to maintain the true hues of colors rather than mixing shades and tints. Another thing that connects all of these pieces is the inspiration drawn from Kandinsky. I tried to use some techniques from his period of transition into abstract art.

Protection of The Heart

For my piece I wanted to have a theme of eyes (specifically the evil eye) and hearts. In my piece I used acrylic paint. I decided to use acrylic paint because that is my favorite medium to work with and I am comfortable using it. My painting has a contrast between different shades of blues and red. The different values of blue gives my painting a “splattered” look for the background. For my piece I have a heart right in the center to act as the focus point. Around the heart there are multiple evil eyes around it. With the evil eyes I want to represent the protection of the heart.

I did a painting where I used acrylic paints.

I started with the background first. I colored the background blue and painted the background first. Then when I finished the background then I drew the butterflies. When I was finished drawing the butterflies, I painted them. I mixed the red paint with the color yellow to get orange. I used a lighter color orange.

I liked the painting as it looked balanced.

They look like the butterflies are flying.

I feel happy when I look at the painting as I have never painted something like that before.

If I was to paint this again I might use different colors next time.
