Black Star Union student leadership program is rooted in YPAR (Youth Participatory Action Research). YPAR is a student-led research method that empowers high school students, especially from Black communities, to identify and address issues impacting their schools and communities. What makes YPAR unique is that it allows students to take control of the research process, focusing on their own experiences and concerns, while collaborating with their peers, staff and community members. YPAR builds critical skills in research, leadership, and advocacy, giving Black students a platform to amplify their voices, challenge inequities, and drive change that benefits their communities. It is a powerful tool for advancing social justice and creating stronger, more supportive environments for Black students. Researches done by Black Star Union is shared with their respective schools and communities.
