The last stop on your journey before the all important Algebra 1 course, Math 8 will give you the opportunity to practice many vital skills. Following math 7, you will continue to expand on solving equations and inequalities, functions, and consumer applications. In addition to these concepts, you will also dive into the wonders of new and more complex geometry including transformations, composite shapes, and more 3-D applications. You will also incorporate more real life applications with probability and Pythagorean Theorem. Finally, improve upon your data analysis skills of real world applications as you work with box plots and scatter plots.

Get lost in a great book and write alongside your teachers in 8th grade language arts! This course builds upon prior knowledge learned and exposes students to a variety of literary genres, such as fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Become an avid reader and inference detective as you uncover literary devices and tricks writers used in novels for various purposes. In 8th grade language arts, students expand their writing horizons and are pushed to connect their reading and writing in a real world setting. Enjoy an immersive learning experience that will help you be successful in the future and across all subject areas- reading and writing is everywhere!

This course is a bridge between our Newcomer English course for students who are learning English and our general education language art course. This is a multi-grade course. This course serves to focus on both WIDA concepts in terms of language aquistion of Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking, as well as incorporation of language arts SOL standards to provide a smoother transition into a language arts classroom.
Become a reading and writing wizard in 8th grade advanced language arts! This course pushes you past the basic language arts skills to become a critical thinker, an active reader, and an effective writer and communicator. Students will be exposed to a variety of texts, genres, and types of writing, as well as giving students the skills to become independent learners through class discussions and projects that go beyond the basics. Be prepared for a course that will help you become a successful reader and writer for the future!

In Civics and Economics students will learn about the process and rights of citizenship. The structure and processes of the Federal, State and Local governments both politically and economically. While also learning the individuals' roles and responsibilities inside these systems.

In Physical Science, the focus turns to the structure of atoms and the characteristics of energy. Topics covered include use of the periodic table; chemical reactions; and how energy is transferred. Sound and light; electricity and magnetism; forces and motion are all investigated.

Women's choir students will be introduced to the concept and application of healthy vocal techniques while emphasizing topics of harmony and blending. A diverse range of choral literature styles will be experienced throughout the year’s repertoire. The students are aimed to develop a personal sense of musicianship as well as practice the skills of sight-reading, basic music theory, healthy vocal technique, and performance.

This course is intended to integrate the STEM fields through project based learning and introduce students to flight and space exploration. The exciting world of aerospace comes alive through the Flight and Space (FS) unit. Students become engineers as they design, prototype, and test models to learn about the science of flight and what it takes to travel and live in space. They solve real-world aviation and space challenges and plan a mission to Mars.
