Classroom Economy

THIS WILL BEGIN AROUND NOVEMBER!

Through My Classroom Economy, students learn valuable life skills in an experiential way.

Specifically, they are able to:

  • Take part in a simulation of real-world economic activity.

  • Learn how to budget their spending, pay fines, and earn for positive behavior.

  • Discover the importance of saving money to obtain what they want.

Classroom Economy is also the positive behavior plan of our classroom. We will start very simply at first. Here is the basic outline:

  • Every student has a chance to earn "Jamnik Cash" daily through Star Points and other means.

  • During the week, students are earning "debits" and "credits" from me based on their behavior. We will discuss general examples that equate to a credit (positive behaviors) or debits (not following rules).

  • Students can also earn money from incentives such as doing an extra math or ELA packet during the week. They can also earn extra for doing something nice for others!

  • They will have an opportunity to spend their money on things like: lunch with Mrs. Jamnik, treasure chest time, Fun Friday, Market Day, etc.
