TEMPERATURE and conduction lab

This assignment was where we had to use hot and cold washers, and put them into hot and cold cups of water to figure out where the energy was transferring to. We then recording the data into a table. The grade I got on this assignment was an approaching, this is because I did not use examples from the lab to explain the science behind it.

My goal to get a better grade next time we do a lab is to use examples for every scientific claim i make.

Atom diagram

This assignment was where we had to draw a periodic table element and label and define all of the parts. We then had to draw different isotopes and label the parts of that. For this assignment I got a meets -. This is because I labeled all the parts of the periodic table element but didn't define them.

The next time we do an assignment like this a goal I have for myself is to make sure to define all of the parts of the diagram that I am making.

Alka seltzer reaction rate lab

For this assignment, we had to put an Alka seltzer tablet into room temperature water, and see how fast it dissolved. After we did this, we did the same thing but instead of room temperature water we used hot water to see if it sped up the reaction. For this assignment I got a meets, this was because I answered all the questions that I was supposed to in full sentences and understood the topic.

A goal for next time is to participate more during the lab instead of letting the people at my table do it and then find out the answers.

Iodine clock reaction lab

For this lab, we had to add the correct amount of each reactant into a beaker, then record the amount of time that it took for the mixture to change color. For this assignment I got a meets because I properly recorded the times and answered the questions with responses that explained why the mixture changed color.

Something I would do differently next time is to go more in depth when answering the questions about why the reaction happened.

Visual model

For this assignment we had to create a model made of foam balls and toothpicks that corresponds with our chemical reaction demonstration. Our group had to make Acetic Acid. This is the acid that vinegar contains, making it acidic. For this assignment I got a meets because our model was clear and and looked clean/organized.

Something I would do differently next time is to help more with the buildig of the molecule. This is because I mostly helped with the painting and writing what the molecule was.

Exhibition presentation

For this exhibition, we had to demonstrate a chemical reaction and explain the science behind it. Our chemical reaction was cabbage juice indicator. My group got a meets for this assignment

If I could do something differently I would make it more engaging for the audience.
