This seminar was about Inequality and the constitutional convention. For this seminar, I got a presentation grade of an exceeds, and my written report got a meets. For my next Socratic Seminar, I want to get an exceeds on both my presentation and my written report.
On this exhibition, I scored an exceeds for both my oral presentation and my slideshow. I am fairly happy with how I performed, I just wish I practiced my presentation more. I learned about the injustice and discrimination that people with disabilities have faced, and still face today. I improved my research skills by searching for quality info, using a range of trustworthy sites.
On this test I received an Exceeds, showing that I know these words. I studyeyd right before the test and reviewed the words, using them in sentences and reading the definitions. I even created a quiz modeled after the real one, so I could practice the format!
Lately, our class has been reading this book. It highlights the life and legacy of Kit Carson.
On this, I received a score of exceeds. I did well, and I studied hard and did lots of research on the topic to find and provide evidence to support my opinion. I respected others opinions, as well as led part of the discussion.
The purpose of this assignment was to plan out our direct and cross examinations. I received a grading of exceeds on this, because of the hard work I put in. I used effort and refinement in this, by creating thoughtful questions and then refinining them to make them better.
The purpose of these assignments was to grow our backround knowlege of how the trial systems work in a mock trial. We learned about objections, how to create a good cross examination, and how to respond to cross questions as a witness. I used effort and respect in this by paying attention to our guest speakers.
In this project, I studied a lot about westward expansion and Kit Carson's legacy. In the trial, this knowledge helped me answer cross questions correctly, as well as improvise my direct examination. This project helped hone my research skills, as well as my confidence in official and unfamiliar places. A challenge I encountered was rephrasing my direct examination with my attorney so that the questions weren't ones that could possibly be objected to. I learned about different types of examinations, and i learned what a real trial might look like. On this exhibition, I would give myself an exceeds because my written aspect help both the attorney and witnesses part for the exhibition. In the actuall trial, i didnt use my script at all. my atorney changed his questions after school, leaving me completely unprepared. Because of this, i improvised my direct, and ended up doing a much better job than if I had had my script. Next unit, I would like to do even more research to be more prepared, use my time more wisely, and practice more before exhibition.
