We are being challenged to create and design a model rocket capable of getting a raw egg safely to the ground without it cracking. to do this we are learning about Newton's Laws of Physics and Thermodynamics. We will also use linear Equations to calculate the rockets energy and impact force.
Moon Crater Energy Lab
I got a meets on this assignment, I got this grade because I worked hard and answered the questions with complete sentences. In this project we got to drop eggs that were 0.01 kg and 0.05 kg from different heights.
Film Canister Rockets
In this lab we made rockets out of film canisters then launched them with water and alka-seltzer. I got an approaching on this assignment because I got some of the questions wrong.
Newtons Laws Lab
In this lab we practice newtons laws with real world applies. I got a meets because I answer the questions to what was expected.
With this handout we had drawing on a page and we had to drawing and calculate the force and other dynamics for them on this project I got a meets, but if I had put in a little bit more after I could have gotten an exceeds.
Our group's rocket went 27 feet, the highest out of everyone. We had three wings on our two liter bottle. There was a cup for our cone and a cup in that cup with our egg inside it had no cushion or insulation so the egg died. We are going to give the egg a lot more cushion. The cushion will contain cotton balls, and plastic bags. We will keep the original design though so we can have the fastest yet safest rocket. Our fins will be made a lot firmer with a better type of material. The fins will be made of balsa wood which is a lot firmer and is light. We will use 20-30 cotton balls for cushion and the plastic bags will be balled and put in the larger cup all around the Dixie cup. Our rocket should be very light but it will weigh more then the last model because we will have more and better materials. We found a small hole in our rocket so we are getting a new bottle as well so we may have the best rocket we possibly could have.
In this unit we learned about Newtons Laws, energy forces, linear equations, law of conservation of energy so we could make calculations about our rockets energy motion and force. Then we explained the science behind our rocket by creating a professional rocket manual. On that manual my team got a meets. `1Our rocket went the highest, i think, but the egg did not live through the impact of hitting the earth. The thing that went best at exhibition for my group was our height, like i mentioned we went the highest. I would've liked to improve our rockets padding around the egg so our egg would survive. Here are three ways I could apply what i did in the future. The first way is using what i have learned to build things for science projects in high school. A second way to use my knowledge is to use newtons laws to build 3D artworks later on. The last way is that I could use it to build a rocket on my own time.
In our slinky lab we had to model the different types of waves with a slinky. I got a approaching on this assessment because every time I asked for help from my table group they did not help. I also was going slower then my table group so they left me and i did my best.
