One of the projects that we did was a lab to simulate the contact of tectonic plates. We did that by using gram crackers to smash together like tectonic plates.I learned that the tectonic plates smash together in different ways making different landforms like if two undersea plates are moving away from each other it could create a volcano and it could make an island.
Another project we did was with starbursts we first cut them up to represent erosion then we mashed the pieces into a ball and put it in boiling water that represented the forming of igneous rock then we put that under a iron to simulate the forming of metamorphic rock.I learned how all the types of rocks are formed.
During the Exhibition I learned all about the arctic regions geology. The research helped me learn about erosion and sedimentation erosion is the braking of rockets due to weathering and the erosion carries it away. Something we also learned about was how the changes in the past help us understand what changes can happen right now and in the future. You guys learned about this in the exhibition
This reflection is on my second science exhibition. I will reflect on what I learned and my understanding of venus. I learned a lot about venus through this project from the acid rain to the crushing pressure. I really liked my teammates but a struggle we had was that we had a hard time communicating with Henri because he was so excited about his ideas that he wouldn't listen to ours. I think I could have done a little better presenting my exhibition by memorizing my script. It would have gone a bit smoother. This also helped me understand how hard it would actually be to live on another planet because every little thing needs to be right. This helped me understand how Venus works the complexity of it and how much we know about it even though nobody has ever been there. This was almost a really bad exhibition but we pulled it off. Our research was done in the last week before the exhibition. It was very risky.
I was really surprised about how big the environmental issues were in our world today I learned so much about it and got to do something to help them even a little. Me and gunner collaborated very well we agreed on almost everything and together we created a good presentation for our action plan we sent out flyers and links to people hoping for a donation to the one tree planted organization. Both of us did lots of work making the posters and creating the presentation everything went smoothly and we made over 200 dollars so it was very effective. The hardest part of this project was organizing and putting it all together, pulling it off was also difficult. I didn't really know about the specifics of the different major environmental effects and I feel like I can actually make a change even if it is really small like 229 trees but if everyone puts a little effort into helping it could change the direction of the environment.
