The Adaptations of Native Americans

The first americans

Using their research of a specific cultural group of Native Americans, students will recreate a replica of the style of home that those people inhabited. Students will explain how this home represented an adaptation to the geographic features and climate of the region in which these people lived. Finally, students will also explain/create a modern version of this style of home that still meets the needs of the regional climate and geography in a sustainable manner.

The Rise and Fall of Ancient Civilizations

The Rise and Fall of Ancient Civilizations

Students will analyze how geography and climate influenced the development of the Maya, Aztec and Incan civilizations. Students will compare and contrast the characteristics of these civilizations, focusing on both the reasons they succeeded and failed. The project will be a choice board in which students will produce one the following: graphic novel, choose-your-own-adventure book, three dimensional board game or a crime scene investigation.

Columbia Exchange cafe

Students will learn about the factors behind European exploration before analyzing the Columbian Exchange and the impact that it had on the world. For the project, students will host a Columbian Exchange Cafe in which they prepare Old/New World foods to go along with menus that explain the impacts of the Columbian Exchange on the Americas, Europe and Africa.
