Describe what you learned and why it's important.
we have done a total of 3 GEOMETRY QUIZZES this year and I have done really good on them. on the first 2 I scored 100%, and on the last one we did I scored 80%. these QUIZZES have gone over what we've learned in class and made sure we understand the topics.
what is the "myth" of the math brain or math person based on the video and article?
the myth is that people are either a "math person" or not, as being born good at math.
why are mistakes important in math class?
mistakes are good because you can use them to learn and reflect on how you can do better next time.
How do you feel about math right now, based on your previous experiences?
right now I'm not feeling to good about it as last year I wasn't good at it at all and got bad grades.
what are some specific, actionable steps you can take to improve your math mindset this year?
The test was mainly about angles and identifying congruent shapes.
I got a meets on the test as I got 11 out of the 14 questions correct, I would've gotten 12 but I forgot to explain my answer on one of them.
what grade did you get on your workbook and why?
set a goal for your learning and performance in the next unit.
we did our I-READY pretty early into the year, and did the diagnostic. the score I got on the math diagnostic was 502. this score means I am working in late 7th grade math. I think I got this score for having the average amount of correct answers that an 8th grader should have when the year just started and their brain hardly remembers anything.
Long term learning targets
Geometry: I can apply my knowledge of rigid and non-rigid transformations to solve geometric problems related to congruence, similarity and scale factor.
Algebra: I can apply my understanding of proportional relationships, linear relationships, systems of equations and functions to reason about real-world scenarios.
a piece of evidence that I met these learning targets is the algebra test that we have done, we have done unit quizzes to show our understanding on what we have worked on and use them to solve real world scenarios
How this can be used in the future.
This can be used in the future as I could get a job that needs math a lot like a construction worker and i would have to use these skills to calculate different measurements to make sure everything is stable.
We have done a total of 2 algebra quizzes this unit about what we have done like linear equations and multi-step equations. i fell i have done a really good job on them as i have gotten good score like on one i even got 10/14, which if you calculate is 71% which i feel is really good for me as i have not been very good at math and this is a big step for me.
we have also done math workbooks all throughout the year where the teachers can pull lesson with having to come up with them and its all set up already, these really help as they are in an organized fashion and are reletivly easy for most people to complete. they're mainly just to make sure you under stand what we've learned so far throughout the year.
