we did I-READY early into the year, and the score I got on the reading diagnostic was 599, which I really good for the beginning of the year, I think I got this because I love reading and do it all the time, so I can easily understand the concepts of the diagnostic.
we have done two SOCRATIC SEMINARS this year so far. a SOCRATIC seminar is when a group of students talk a bout the current spot of a project, and we have so far talked about the book just mercy and how in connects to the inequality of the U.S.
we re doing an exhibition on TED talks talking about incarceration of people and the inequality of the U.S. mine is the school to prison pipeline. link
Long term learning target
I can demonstrate my knowledge of Early American history, government and civics through a TED Talk-style presentation that analyzes the major political and social changes that affected the definition of citizenship and the rights of citizens, and explain how those changes continue to impact marginalized groups today.
A piece of evidence that I met this learning target is when we actually did the TED-Talks. these were a style of exhibition where we were paired with a Group of of 3 or 4 other people and all got a topic to talk about in one big slideshow. i was assigned the school to prison pipeline about kids getting unfairly punished in school and even getting sometimed sent to prison.
How this can be used in the future
this can be used in the future because it can help when i grow up and i can be active about these problems we talked about to make a difference.
in class we have been reading a book called blood and thunder which is about Kit Karson and what he did i the past. We did a Socratic Seminar over the first pages we read but i didn't do so good on it as i went on vacation for 2 weeks and i missed a lot of the book so i hardly had anything to say.
