This is my 28th year teaching in the Mounds View School District!
I graduated from St. Olaf College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and then earned my teaching license through the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. I also received my Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Leadership from the University of St. Thomas and was a National Board Certified teacher in the Middle Childhood-Generalist category from 2011 - 2021. I am proud to have represented the Mounds View School District by being recognized as a 2012 TIES Exceptional Teacher in Technology, was a semi-finalist for 2013 MN Teacher of the Year, and our 5th grade homeroom team shared recognition as 2015 TIES Exceptional Teachers in Technology.
Service dogs are trained and partnered with qualifying individuals to help them maintain a safer and more independent lifestyle. People with medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes and certain breathing problems can greatly benefit from a trained service dog. Betty was paired with me as a working companion and trained to help alert me when my blood sugar is becoming too low. Although Betty is friendly and gentle, she will be at school to work with me and not to play with or interact with students, visitors or staff. All 5th graders will learn about service dogs and expectations within the first few days of school.

My husband, Dane, and I live in Roseville and have three adult children. Our family likes to travel, play card & board games, watch movies, downhill ski, watch sporting events, and go out to eat together. I enjoy going out for coffee, reading, walking, and spending time with my family & friends.
I love laughter, building connections, and helping people achieve more than they thought possible! I am ready for an awesome school year!
I love to travel! In April 2018, I fulfilled a dream of going on The Sound of Music Bike Tour in Salzburg, Austria.
My favorite city in the world is Paris. I love the gardens & museums, walking the streets, The French Open tennis tournament, and the restaurants. Sculpture is my favorite kind of art and my favorite museum in Paris is The Rodin.
I love Starbucks coffee! I had my first mug of coffee in 8th grade at the original Starbucks in Seattle, WA with my dad.
You will quickly learn that I love inspirational words of Love & Kindness & Gratitude.
I have Type-1 Diabetes. The sensor on my arm measures my blood sugar levels. You will learn about diabetes this year and all of the technology & medication that keeps me healthy and alive. I'm willing to answer any of your questions about my diabetes because #knowledgeispower!
I adore gnomes. Here is one that is painted by the back door at my mom's house.
My favorite apps on my iPhone are Spotify & Instagram. I love creating music playlists & taking photos of sunflowers.
I love murals and public art!
