Team "Freak in the Spreadsheets" wins 2nd at the National Personal Finance Challenge (2024)
Personal finance refers to the management of one's financial resources and decisions concerning money matters on an individual or household level. In other words, personal finance has to do with the ways we choose to use our money.
Personal finance involves budgeting, saving, investing, and making informed choices to achieve financial goals and secure a stable financial future. By practicing effective personal finance, individuals can optimize their financial well-being and make sound financial decisions aligned with their long-term objectives.
In Personal Finance Decathlon (PFD), students learn about all aspects of personal finance, including budgeting, investing, saving, and more. Joining PFD is a great way to learn about how to manage your money and prepare for future financial decision-making.
Please check out the above sections (Financial Literacy Lessons, Case Studies, and Competitions) for more info on each of those categories.
This year, I'm hoping to introduce discussions about the sociological and psychological components of personal finance as well, so stay tuned for more info!
Feel free to contact Victoria Farmer at 2025farmv78@moundsviewschools.org if you want to join or if you have any questions, or you can check out the interest form below.
I look forward to a great year of PFD!
