The observatory is part of the west wing of the Science Building. The dome is a prominent architectural feature of the building. The observatory can be accessed from the fourth floor of the building. Enter through the Prairie Grass Door facing the parking lot. The stairs and elevator are located straight ahead halfway down the hallway. Please check the Observing Schedule for information on regularly scheduled public observing times, weather changes, as well as special events.
The observatory is managed by the faculty and students of the physics discipline. Physics is one of seven disciplines in the Division of Science and Mathematics. Aside from the astronomical observatory, the fourth floor houses several teaching and research laboratories of the physics discipline, as well as a general-purpose classroom.
If you are interested in learning more, engaging in student research, or would like to visit the observatory with a group, please contact one of the physics faculty, for example Sylke Boyd (sboyd@morris.umn.edu).
