The Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT) is an assessment widely used in gifted Education. This assessment measures different elements of creative thinking.
Elements of creativity measured in these assessments include, curiosity, imagination, boundary-breaking, and humor. It does not measure motivation or skill.
The most used TTCT are the Figural and Verbal. Some states even require this be a measure in their gifted programs. These two test require thinking creatively with pictures and thinking creatively with words.
This assessment is reliable and widely used. It gives us data on students in the area of creativity where as ISASP and CogAT provide achievement and ability data. This test has been around since 1966 and the norms are updated approximately every 10 years.
