We differentiate to meet the needs of our students every day. Often, we have a few students who seem to need more than what we are doing. Pullout enrichment groups are a way to give these students what they need and allow them to work with other students with the same needs. Pullout enrichment groups can be single-subject groups or can be more cross-curricular. Students involved in these groups are nominated by teachers based on pre-unit testing, observations, or grades/classwork.
Talented and gifted groups are formed by specific identification procedures. Students in these groups have been identified using testing, inventories and observations. These students consistently need something beyond the curriculum to allow them to stay engaged and continue to make academic and social and emotional growth. We do not formally identify students until 3rd grade.
