Sketchbook

For my final project I have chosen to explore minimalism and maximalism within interior design, through four movements which are representative of both ideologies. These include Contemporary design and Modernism that are characterised by their minimalist principles, as well as Art Nouveau and architectural revival styles prominent during the Victorian era which are defined by their heavily maximalist elements, these being the Renaissance Revival and Napoleon III (or Second empire). My decision to investigate interior design was influenced by my fascination and passion for the subject which I have held from a young age whilst I also find myself being an adherent of both minimalism and maximalism.
