I like to develop my design ideas first through draping and samples, then use quick sketches to clearly explain the ideas. I also experimented with using a computer program to experiment with how flat pattern shapes can be translated into three dimensional garments.
The designs above are inspired by the draping I did with the calico cut out of a dancing figure. I used similar ideas for the later work (on the left side), in which I draped garments around the body to give the impression of another person having been draped and merged into the silhouette.
