School Counseling
School counselors can help students with:
supporting them when they want to share a problem
talking things through with them and helping them make good decisions
helping if they are having problems in a class or want to improve their grades
feeling stressed or overwhelmed with school
having problems with peers and/or friends
having things going on at home that make it hard to focus in class
and they can help with other topics too!
Counseling Services
School Counselors will go into the classroom and facilitate skills based classroom lessons based off grade level needs.
A few examples of classroom presentations we may provide this school year:

Students who need additional support learning specific skills can participate in group counseling. Groups often consist of 2-6 students and last about 8-10 weeks. See Group Counseling Topics to learn more about group counseling.
Students who are struggling socially and emotionally can see a School Counselor in an individual setting to address individual concerns. These sessions typically last 30-40 minutes for 4-8 weeks.
For more information about referrals, please see the Appointment Request tab.
Students who are struggling intensely with social/emotional concerns and need support in the moment. This may include suicidal ideation, self harm, bullying/harassment, loss of a loved one or parental divorce/separation, etc.
CONFIDENTIALITY STATEMENT
As School Counselors, we do NOT provide Therapy Services. Although, Counseling and Therapy may be similar, School-Based Counseling is much more basic and short-term, and teaches students specific skills to increase their success both at school, and in their personal lives. Therapy refers to a more in-depth interaction with clients (students), which is typically more long-term. Students who require additional long-term support/services may benefit more from a therapeutic standpoint, and your pediatrician should be contacted for a referral. If you need support with making a referral for services, we can help!
