Mrs. Bear

English Language Arts at Montpelier Public School

Greetings! As you explore my English class webpage, be assured that each of my courses is built upon the foundation of the North Dakota State standards. These guidelines will serve as our compass, ensuring that every student receives an education that meets and exceeds the benchmarks set by the state. I am excited to share this educational journey with you, and I look forward to helping you thrive while embracing the principles outlined by North Dakota's educational framework.

About me

This is my 11th year teaching. Previously, I taught in the Elementary School including grades 2 and 4.  I have always loved reading and teaching reading is my main passion. I graduated from Valley City State University and Jamestown University before beginning my teaching career. After I began teaching, I went back to school to earn a Masters of Reading Instruction from the University of North Dakota. I look forward to the challenge this new year brings.

  A note on Academic Integrity

Maintaining high standards of academic integrity is crucial to the learning process and the development of critical thinking skills. Students are expected to demonstrate honesty, respect, and ethical conduct in all aspects of their work. This includes, but is not limited to, assignments, tests, projects, presentations, and any other form of academic assessment. Plagiarism, cheating, unauthorized collaboration, and any form of academic dishonesty will not be tolerated.

It is important that all work submitted is the result of your own efforts, ideas, and research, appropriately cited and referenced when necessary. If you have any questions about what constitutes academic integrity or need clarification on how to properly cite sources, please don't hesitate to ask.

Remember, the purpose of education is to develop your skills and knowledge, and maintaining academic integrity is an essential part of that process.

Regarding the Literature Available in our School Library

I am excited to welcome your children back to school! My goal is to foster a love for reading by providing access to a wide range of engaging texts. However, I want to ensure that you are aware that our library collection is intended for students in grades 7 through 12 and may contain materials with mature content.

While texts are carefully selected to offer diverse and age-appropriate reading options, it is important to acknowledge that some books might address topics or themes that are more suitable for older students. I am committed to promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all students. I believe in supporting students' intellectual growth by introducing them to literature that challenges and expands their understanding of the world.

I understand that each child matures at their own pace, and as such, I encourage you to actively engage in conversations about the books your child selects. I also welcome any questions or concerns you may have regarding specific titles or content.

Thank you for your continued support in fostering a love for reading and learning in our students.
