¡Hola todos!
I am so happy you are here. My name is Señorita DeSantis and I will be your Team Discovery Spanish teacher. Like many of you, I began learning Spanish in Kindergarten and loved it so much that I took Spanish all the way up until I graduated from high school. I graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Spanish. Then, I went on to receive my Master's in Education with a certification in K-12 Spanish. I studied abroad in Seville, Spain for one semester, and shortly thereafter, I moved to Madrid, Spain to teach in an elementary school for one year. My fondest memory in education was my time spent working at the nature-based Spanish immersion pre-school in Squirrel Hill, known as La Escuelita Arcoiris. I saw firsthand the benefits of bilingualism at an early age and the joy it brought to their lives, which is why I am so excited to be a part of Montour Elementary's new Spanish immersion program. I look forward to meeting you!
Un abrazo,
Señorita DeSantis

Teaching is a highly rewarding profession in which one is able to guide, shape, and transform the lives of others. I made the decision to pursue a career in teaching Spanish due to my intrinsic desire of wanting to share the benefits of bilingualism with students that expand their horizons through language and culture. I firmly believe that exposure to a second language expands children intellectually, culturally, and emotionally and builds confidence and a sense of contribution to the world that will stay with them as they grow.
