Señorita DeSantis

B.S. Spanish, M.Ed K-12 Spanish

¡Hola todos!

I am so happy you are here. My name is Señorita DeSantis and I will be your Team Discovery Spanish teacher. Like many of you, I began learning Spanish in Kindergarten and loved it so much that I took Spanish all the way up until I graduated from high school. I graduated from Penn State with a Bachelor of Science in Spanish. Then, I went on to receive my Master's in Education with a certification in K-12 Spanish. I studied abroad in Seville, Spain for one semester, and shortly thereafter, I moved to Madrid, Spain to teach in an elementary school for one year. While I was there, I also spent time teaching the employees of Reali Madrid. My fondest memory in education was my time spent working at the nature-based Spanish immersion pre-school in Squirrel Hill, known as La Escuelita Arcoiris. I saw firsthand the benefits of bilingualism at an early age and the joy it brought to their lives, which is why I am so excited to be a part of Montour Elementary's new Spanish immersion program. I look forward to meeting you!

Un abrazo,

Señorita DeSantis

SEÑORA JONES

B.S. Spanish PK-12
English as a Second Language Program Specialist PK-12

¡Hola familias!

It is going to be an exciting school year. My name is Señora Elizabeth Jones and I will be your Team Curiosity Spanish teacher. My interest and passion for learning the Spanish language and culture started in elementary school. I always knew I wanted to be a Spanish educator so I pursued my dreams by attending Clarion University of Pennsylvania. I immersed my Spanish education traveling to Mexico, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico as well as the largely Hispanic populated U.S. Spanish-speaking cities of Miami, Orlando, Phoenix, San Antonio, Los Angeles, San Diego and New York City.
With over twelve years of teaching Spanish, in traditional classrooms and online platforms, I understand the cognitive advantages and benefits of learning a second language at a young age. Students are fascinated with creating cultural connections between English and Spanish.
I am honored to be a part of the Spanish immersion program here at Montour Elementary School where the students' foundation of Spanish education will be created. This foundation will propel interest and encourage students to continue learning Spanish in middle school and high school. I look forward to meeting you.

Muchas gracias,
Señora Jones
