Mrs. Schmitt's Class

Welcome!

This page was created to be used by Monticello 7th and 8th-grade students and their parents/guardians. I will update the information so that students and their families will be able to access information about the classes, what type of activities are happening from week to week, and a tentative schedule of assignments and assessments.

I have been teaching at Monticello Middle School since the fall of 1999. I am a graduate of Monticello High School, and I have lived here all of my life, excluding my three years in college. I am a 1999 graduate of Upper Iowa University in Fayette and majored in social science and secondary education.(Go Peacocks!!). I also graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with my masters degree in middle level education in the spring of 2004. UNI

I currently teach 8th grade American History, but I have also taught 7th grade geography prior to that. I look forward to continuing to develop new materials and working with students to learn about history, my favorite subject. We will be using materials this year from TCI and the DBQ project. I am excited to get students actively learning and investigating American History.
