Project Criteria:
Before you begin:
1. Research the program you will representing. Look for those class offerings at other district websites (Aberdeen, Elma, or other districts in WA state.) Check out what their publications highlight and consider highlighting similar elements in your brochure.
2. Research potential jobs that program and class will help students work towards. Check out the Occupation Outlook Handbook from the Department of Labor and Industries. https://www.bls.gov/ooh/
3. Draw a sketch of your tri-fold (front & back) before jumping into InDesign.
Things to consider:
* Who teaches the class? Who will be reading the brochure?
* What will the class/program teach the students? What jobs will the class/program prepare students for?
* Where is the class located?
* Why should students take the class/program?
* Be brief! Most people don't want to read lengthy text, so keep is short and sweet! Think of your brochure as an appetizer, a tiny bite of what the program has to offer. Share only important and interesting key points - 5 at the most per class.
* Use pictures, drawings or charts rather than words when possible.
* Use bullets to break text into small, easy-to-scan/red chunks.
* Make sure you organize the information logically.
* Use your own words and avoid copyright infringement by changing the image search settings in google.
Consider the design elements when creating your brochure:
* Emphasis * Repetition * Alignment * Proximity * Typography * Balance * White Space
