Monterey County is the recipient of the Quality Counts California (QCC) Workforce Pathways Grant from the CA Department of Education. This grant offers valuable higher education stipends to those in the early learning and care workforce who provide essential care for children aged 0-5 within Monterey County. The lead agency responsible for managing this grant is the Monterey County Office of Education (MCOE). The MCOE Early Care and Education team will work together to efficiently process applications and distribute stipends.
Overview:
Units must be towards obtaining a higher degree in the field of Early Childhood Education and/or moving to the next level on the Child Development Matrix.
Each approved unit will be eligible for $200. A maximum of 18 units per fiscal year will be eligible for funding. Funding for this project will be available until all available funds have been distributed and no later than June 30, 2025.
Must apply by March 30, 2025.
The EETDG is designed to support workforce development for State Preschool, Early Head Start, Head Start and Transitional Kindergarten programs. This grant provides tuition support stipends for State Preschool, Early Head Start, and Head Start staff, or Multiple-Subject Credential holders
Stipends Up to:
$2,000 for higher education
$750 for professional development

Students pursuing a career in early child care/development and attending a California community college may be eligible to apply for the Educational Support Grant.
Grant funding (to support tuition and/or textbook costs) is based on submission of a complete application, the number of eligible students and successful completion of courses with a grade of "C" or better. Limited funding is distributed on a first come, first served basis.
The Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG) Program awards up to $20,000 to students currently enrolled in a professional preparation program approved by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and working towards earning their preliminary teaching or pupil personnel services credential.
Students must:
Complete their program and obtain their credential within 3 years from the first distribution of GSTG funds.
Commit to work at a priority school in California for 4 years within 8 years of completing their program.
The TEACH Grant Program provides grants of up to $4,000 a year to students who are completing or plan to complete course work needed to begin a career in teaching.
The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant program is a federal financial aid grant program available to students enrolled in eligible programs.
Students who receive a TEACH Grant must agree to teach in a high-need field, at a low-income elementary or secondary school as a highly qualified teacher, full-time for at least four years.
