12th Grade – Senior Project

Course Description

Students identify a real-world challenge and then research, design, and test a solution, ultimately presenting their unique solutions to a panel of engineers.

Seniors are seen here working on an interactive window display. Students use both their art and computer science skills to create fun and exciting displays during the holidays and for displays advertising the upcoming school musical Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Students created artwork then connected several pieces to motors and sensors to create a moving display triggered by passersby. They worked on several displays while searching for a local business to partner with.

This senior project is part of a larger project involving a house built to be powered by alternative energy. The house has lights and ceiling fans powered by solar panels and hydrogen fuel cells (seen in this photo). Students also designed a driveway with lights and sensors to alert the driver and sidewalk pedestrians of each other when a vehicle is backing out.

Students have been going through the E&D Pathway classes together for 4 years. They have a strong sense of camaraderie, and have created lifelong friends through our pathway.
