Leonard Rutigliano
Instructional Leader
Leonard Rutigliano is the English/Language Arts Secondary Instructional Leader for Monroe Public Schools. As a leader, he believes in collaboratively working with teachers to support the literacy growth of all students and inspire a love of reading and writing. Prior to coming to Monroe, he was the Humanities Instructional Coach at Newington High School, and an English teacher at NHS and in Hartford Public Schools before that. He is a certificated Cognitive CoachTM and Google Workspace for Education Trainer and Educator and holds a Sixth Year Degree in Educational Leadership from Quinnipiac University, CAGS, a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from the University of Saint Joseph, and a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Trinity College.

Maria Buturla
Maria Buturla currently teaches American Literature. She has been a member of the Masuk community for 29 years. Maria began her career in 1979 at North Haven High School and taught there for six years before staying home to raise her three children. Maria earned her Bachelors degree and Masters degree at Southern Connecticut State University. She served a four year term on Stratford's Board of Education. She and her husband reside in Stratford and enjoy spending time with their three children and seven grandchildren.

Stephen Casinelli
Stephen Casinelli is currently an American Literature and World Literature teacher at Masuk, as well as the Senior Class Co-Advisor and Writing Club Advisor. He student-taught at Masuk in the 2019-2020 school year with Laura Massey and Ken Rider before teaching 7th grade at Seymour Middle School for one year. Casinelli studied at Southern Connecticut State University for both his Bachelors and Masters degrees. He is best known for his dramatics and his love for The Catcher in the Rye and The Great Gatsby. In his free time, Stephen Casinelli enjoys lounging at the beach, listening to Ariana Grande, reading a good book, and going to New York City.

Laurie Coville
Laurie Coville attended the University of Connecticut, earning a bachelor's degree in English Education. While teaching at Stamford High School, she earned her MA from the University of Bridgeport in Educational Studies. She began working at Masuk High School in 2011 and went on to receive her 6th year degree as a Reading Specialist and Reading Consultant from Sacred Heart University. She teaches Read 180, World Literature, and AP Literature and Composition. She is a co-coordinator for the senior Capstone Project, as well as the Sign Language Club advisor. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, taking her three dogs on hikes, and spending time with her family and friends.

Andrea De Lotto
Andrea De Lotto considers herself a lifelong learner. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English, a Bachelor of Science in English Education, and a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut. She has her 092 certification and is finishing her 6th year degree in Social Emotional and Academic Learning at Sacred Heart University. During her years in education, she has served as a traditional classroom English teacher and a literacy content coach. She truly loves the work she does! De Lotto is also the co-advisor to Masuk's Sunshine Club. Aside from teaching, her other passions include spending time with family and friends, cooking, hiking, reading, and decorating!

Alyson Femia
Alyson Femia has a B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of Connecticut, a Master’s Degree in Secondary English Education from Lehman College, as well as her 092 certification. She is currently finishing her 6th year degree in Social Emotional and Academic Learning at Sacred Heart University. Prior to joining Masuk, she taught in New York City and at Danbury High School. Being dual-certified in English and Social Studies, she teaches World Literature, Political Science and Civics, and Contemporary World Issues. She is also co-advisor to Masuk’s Sunshine Club and advisor to the Asian Culture Club. In her free time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Eric Giordano
Eric Giordano has been working at Masuk High School for 19 years. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Fairfield University, his Master's from Sacred Heart University, and his sixth year certificate from Sacred Heart University. Eric Giordano currently teaches Literature and Composition, Literature and Modern Culture, and Monsters and Madness. He enjoys coaching and spending time with his family.

Steven Horvath
Steve Horvath began his career at Jockey Hollow teaching ELA in 2007. He joined Masuk High School in 2019. He has a BA in English and History along with a MAT from Sacred Heart University. He currently is the Adviser to the Masuk Free Press and our National English Honors Society.

Laura Massey
Laura Massey is a 2000 graduate of Villanova University, and received a Masters degree in secondary education from Fairfield University, and a sixth year degree in educational administration from Sacred Heart University. Laura has been teaching English at Masuk HS since 2004, and primarily teaches 11th and 12th grade American Literature, AP English Language and Composition, and various senior electives. In her spare time, Laura enjoys spending her time outdoors with her family.

Jamie McKee
Jamie McKee has enjoyed the last twenty years teaching English Literature: from British and World Literatures to Horror Literature and UCONN Writing, she has offered her students a rich experience reading, analyzing, and writing about many diverse texts. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and riding horses.

Ken Rider
Ken Rider is a 2000 graduate of Siena College with a degree in English/Education. After completing his Master's degree at CCSU in 2001, he began his career at Masuk High School. Ken Rider currently teaches World Literature, the Modern Hero, Battlefield Stories: War Literature, and serves as a senior Capstone Project coordinator.
