In Unit 1, students are learning all about personal narratives—true stories from their own lives. Throughout this unit, students will read examples of strong personal narratives, learn how authors use details, dialogue, and clear sequencing to make their stories engaging, and practice writing their own meaningful stories. They will brainstorm experiences, plan their narratives, draft, revise, and edit their work. By the end of the unit, students will have created a polished personal narrative that shows their growth as writers and their ability to express themselves with clarity and creativity. This unit helps build foundational writing skills that they’ll use all year long.
We do not always do every lesson in each unit. If you see a lesson missing, this is why.
