project ASAP
Welcome
Project ASAP (Assessing the impact of Shift work in Australian Paramedics) is a research study looking at how shift work and circadian rhythm disruption impacts paramedic decision making, work performance, and physiology.
Shift work & paramedicine
We know shift work can impact sleep and lead to circadian rhythm disruption. Sleep loss and disrupted circadian rhythms impact attention, memory, and task performance. Paramedics often work on rotating shift schedules. Paramedic work involves complex decision making, often with time pressure present.
the problem
Despite knowing that shift work and sleep loss impact cognitive function, we don't know how this impacts paramedics and how they work.
our goal
Explore how shift work, and its associated sleep loss, impacts paramedic work performance and stress response.
How you can help
If you are interested in participating in project ASAP, please submit an EOI. If you are not able or eligible to participate, you can still help us out! Please spread the word about the project and share the EOI with anyone who might be interested.
