The Monash Medicine-Engineering-Information Technology Research Collaboration Initiative (MERCi) is a joint effort by the School of Engineering (SoE), the School of Information Technology (SoIT) and the School of Medicine (SoM). Fuelled by a common interest and vision, Monash MERCi aims to advance scientific discovery and improve human health by identifying and addressing unmet clinical and healthcare challenges. By forging a symbiotic partnership among the three schools, SoM gains access to a wealth of technological resources and expertise in areas such as biomedical imaging, computational modelling, biomaterials, robotics, and data analytics. At the same time, SoE and SoIT benefit from a deeper understanding of clinical contexts and real-world healthcare challenges. Through Monash MERCi, engineers and technology specialists gain invaluable insights into the nuanced needs of patients and healthcare providers, fostering the development of contextually relevant innovations that have a tangible impact on patient outcomes. Monash MERCi aims to leverage the expertise of SoM, SoE and SoIT to pave the way for innovative and impactful research outcomes.
