Position Overview
The LifeSciences Australia Honours Program offers an opportunity for to gain practical experience in administrative and organisational support across LifeSciences Australia operations. Working alongside the Leadership team, and other team members, the intern will contribute to the smooth running of LifeSciences Australia events, training programs, and member services while learning about the operations of a national professional association.
The role will focus on administrative support activities, similar to those of the Administrative Support Assistant, with additional exposure to projects in membership services, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Operations
Respond to and manage membership and general inquiries, providing timely and accurate information.
Monitor the company email inbox and phone lines, ensuring all inquiries are addressed promptly and professionally.
Assist with the administration and coordination of events, summits, workshops, and training programs, including participant communications and registration processes.
Maintain up-to-date records and databases, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of member and stakeholder information.
Assist with Learning Management System (LMS) administration.
Support document control, training compliance, and audit readiness activities in line with LifeSciences Australia’s quality systems.
Assist with processing memberships and event registrations, including payment handling.
Collaborate with internal teams to provide administrative support for projects, communications, and marketing activities.
Work on special projects as per business requirements
Adhere to organisational policies and procedures to maintain high standards of administrative support and customer service.
Ensure compliance with LifeSciences Australia quality standards, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and relevant regulatory requirements when applicable.
Identify and report any potential issues, assisting in problem-solving and resolution.

Enhance proficiency in Microsoft Office, CRM platforms, and digital event tools.

Build Knowledge of Industry Practices and Compliance
Gain a foundational understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles and other relevant standards.
Learn about documentation requirements, audit readiness, and quality management processes.
Strengthen Career Readiness
Develop confidence in working both independently and in a team environment.
Receive mentoring and feedback from experienced staff and industry professionals.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
Currently undertaking or recently completed a degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Science, Clinical Research, Business Administration, or a related field.
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact professionally with members, stakeholders, and the public.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with CRM systems is an advantage.
Attention to detail in data entry, record-keeping, and documentation.
Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and adaptability in a team environment.
A commitment to professionalism, integrity, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
Travel Requirements
Attendance at events to coordinate venue and event activities and assist with registration desk enquires. Local and interstate travel may be required.
