We try to ensure that we are communicating with parents in various ways.
Each student and parent should have received a letter with their PowerSchool log-in information through the parent and student email accounts. If you need assistance with your account, please contact Mrs. Angie McGinnis. PowerSchool lists students schedules, homerooms, grades, transportation and attendance.
How do I find out my child's teacher and bus information? You need to log into the parent portal for PowerSchool. The homeroom teacher is listed with an HR after it. You should also be able to view the student's schedule and switch to bus number and times by clicking on the transportation link at the left side of the interface.
All PreK-6 students will receive a red, plastic Home-School folder. We are anticipating that we will be sending home less paper this year, but we ask that the folder is cleaned out nightly and returned to school daily.
Kindergarten and first grade students have a BEE (Bring Everything Everyday) Book binder that needs to go home and back to school each day.
Students in grades 2-6 receive a planner to record daily and long term assignments.
A district newsletter is published quarterly. Building newsletters are provided monthly to families. Most teachers send home a weekly newsletter to help keep parents informed of school events.
Our teachers maintain web pages linked to the district web site.
Most teachers also use some type of social media, such as Facebook, for home-school communication.
All teachers will be utilizing REMIND this year. This is a text-based tool that we will need you to sign up for once you know your child's homeroom teacher. Codes and instructions can be found here. Remind will be used to communicate school delays and closures this year.
Final Forms can be used by district admin to send emails to parents in specific grade-levels or the building as a whole. It needs to be updated and signed off each year. Please do that ASAP if you have not yet for 20-21.
It is very important that you report any changes in your contact information by updating your Final Forms account as soon as such changes occur. We rely on you for the accuracy of our school records. Many parents have said they are not receiving information, but they have not updated their cell phones or email addresses in Final Forms.
Grades are updated weekly in PowerSchool. Please check for missing assignments and low grades. Students in grades 3-6 will also be checking their own grades during INT time.
Students have email accounts that will only send to or receive email from school personnel or other Mohawk students. No outside domains may send to our student email accounts and students cannot sent email outside of our domain.
Parent conferences and meetings will be held virtually this year whenever possible.
The superintendent will utilize our all-call phone system when important messages must be shared community-wide.
