Whitney Institute is proud to offer enrichment opportunities for advanced students, allowing qualified candidates the opportunity to sit the IGCSE in English in May of their M3 year. Historically, we have had excellent success rates with students earning grades A*-C.
In September, students will be given a sample IGCSE English test question to assess if they might be a potential candidate. Successful students are then offered additional enrichment and the final candidate list is decided on in December.
The following criteria are considered when determining a potential candidate:
Advanced English ability
Teachability
Student desire - a good attitude and willingness to take on extra work
Attendance at tutorials & completion of assignments
Parental permission (pending student willingness)
Students who are identified as potential candidates but do not make the final list can continue with enrichment activities as they wish. For such students that continue working hard, we typically recommend to their high school that they be considered for sitting the exam in November or May of their S1 year.
