Highlights
Nature Journaling
Our members capture details of plants, animals and the surroundings through sketches, notes, and reflections. This activity fosters mindfulness, enhances appreciation for the environment, and encourages a deeper connection to nature, while providing an opportunity for them to slow down and enjoy the beauty in our everyday surroundings.
Nature Walks
Our members get close to nature when they stroll through natural environments like nature reserves, parks, or trails, taking time to observe and appreciate the surrounding flora and fauna. Guided or self-led, these walks encourage mindfulness and discovery, allowing members to connect with nature, learn about local ecosystems, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the outdoors.
Gardening
Our members learn to grow plants both in traditional soil gardens and through a soil-free, water-based system called hydroponics. This activity also encourages an understanding of sustainability, healthy eating, and the science behind food production, all while fostering a sense of responsibility and connection to nature.
Outdoor Cooking & Camp Skills
Our members are introduced to fun, hands-on activities like cooking simple meals and learning basic camping tasks. They learn how to set up tents and use basic cooking tools like portable stoves. This activity helps our members develop teamwork, confidence, and a love for nature while teaching them important safety and survival skills in a supportive environment.
Project Work & Community Work
In project work, our members take on exciting challenges like planning outdoor adventures, leading sustainability projects, and exploring conservation efforts. They develop teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving skills while discovering the beauty of nature and making a real impact.
Community work brings even more adventure! From planting and clean-up missions to working with environmental groups, our members will get hands-on experience in protecting the planet. Every activity builds resilience, adaptability, and a strong sense of purpose — all while creating unforgettable memories with fellow explorers!
Orienteering
Orienteering is an exciting outdoor activity where our members learn to use and read a map and identify landmarks to navigate through unfamiliar terrain, finding checkpoints in a specific order. It challenges us to develop problem-solving and teamwork while exploring nature. This activity promotes physical activity, confidence, and a sense of adventure as our members learn to navigate and explore the world around them.
Sports Climbing
Sports climbing is an exciting activity where our members challenge themselves to scale climbing walls of varying difficulty. They learn essential techniques like gripping, footwork, and belaying while building strength, focus, and confidence. With every climb, our members push their limits, develop problem-solving skills, and overcome obstacles in a supportive environment. Whether they’re reaching new heights or encouraging their teammates, sports climbing fosters resilience, teamwork, and a love for adventure!
Safe Cycling
Safe cycling, an activity where our members learn how to ride a bicycle safely while following important rules of the road and practising good cycling habits. Our members learn how to put on their helmets, signal when turning, check their bicycles for safety, and be aware of traffic. The activity also includes lessons on cycling in different environments and understanding traffic signs and signals. Safe cycling promotes physical activity, builds confidence, and our members develop essential skills for staying safe while enjoying the activity.
Collaborations with other CCAs
Red Cross - Basic First Aid
Collaboration with other CCA groups brings new and exciting opportunities for Outdoor Club members! Partnering with the Red Cross, our members learn essential first aid skills for outdoor adventures, ensuring safety during outdoor activities.
VMAC - Nature Journaling & Poster Making
Working with the Visual Media Art Club, our members learn to capture breathtaking nature photography and create inspiring environmental campaigns. These collaborations foster teamwork, creativity, and a shared passion for making a difference while building strong friendships across different CCAs!
PUB Punggol Waterway Trail
The P4 Outdoor Club members participated in a learning trail at Punggol Waterway on 13 March 2025. The trail was organised by a class of Secondary 2 students from Tanjong Katong Girls School and the upper primary Environment Science Club students from Geylang Methodist School (Primary). Our members learnt more about the importance of conserving water, rain gardens, water sustainability and the Punggol Waterway through a series of hands-on activities.
Jane Goodall Institute Singapore (JGIS) & Valour@MK Project
The P5 Outdoor Club members collaborated with Jane Goodall Institute Singapore to learn about long-tailed macaques and promote wildlife awareness within the community. As part of the project, the students designed and led interactive educational activities for a group of kindergarten students, helping the younger learners appreciate local biodiversity. A selected group of Outdoor Club members also showcased the project at the Jane Goodall Youth Summit on 12 November 2025, presenting alongside secondary and international schools. The experience strengthened the students’ knowledge, confidence, and commitment to environmental stewardship.
Learning Journey
The P3 and P4 Outdoor Club members embarked on a meaningful learning journey to the Carbon Gallery, where they deepened their understanding of carbon emissions and their impact on everyday life. Through a guided tour and hands-on exploration of the gallery’s many interactive exhibits, students learned what carbon emissions are, how daily activities contribute to them, and why reducing our carbon footprint is important. This immersive experience enabled students to make clear connections between global environmental issues and their own actions, inspiring them to be more mindful and responsible stewards of the environment.
