'B' Division Table Tennis Boys
Our first match was against Deyi Secondary School, and we were nervous to play against them as we had previously lost to them last year. However, on match day, we breezed past them with a 4-1 win, which led to us feeling confident about the following games. Our second match was against Raffles Institution. As we knew that Raffles was one of the strongest schools in the nation, we were very nervous as we feared that we were going to lose. Despite this, we played our best and took this opportunity to learn from the best and apply this knowledge against other schools.
Our third match was against Serangoon Garden. We were confident that we can achieve a positive result, but at the same time, we also knew that we should not let our guard down. We beat them with a convincing 5-0 win, and moved on to our third match, which was against Queenstown Secondary School. We expected similar results against them as with Serangoon Garden Secondary, as we knew that we had trained hard, and we beat them with a 5-0 win. Finally, we had to face Peirce Secondary, who were very strong too, with formidable players on their team. We knew we had to beat them to qualify for Nationals and so we were extra nervous. Unfortunately, due to our lack of experience and them having a stronger spirit, we fell short and lost to them 4-1. This loss was devastating as we missed the chance to qualify for Nationals. However, we took this loss as a stepping stone and became more motivated to improve our weaknesses before next year's NSG.Â
Overall, this NSG came to a disappointing halt as we were so close yet so far from qualifying, but at least we have improved vastly from last year's performance, and our spirit as a team has increased tremendously.
Last but not least, we would like to thank our teachers-in-charge, Mdm Yu and Mr Chan, our coaches, Coach Kama, Coach Vincent and Coach Pang, and all table tennis team members for their unwavering support for us as without them we would have never made it this far. Thank you.
