What better module for our P6 digital natives than one on digital photography, and pushing their creative exploration even further with an additional step of digital illustration? Taking cues from local photographer Nguan’s “Untitled photographs in the Singapore series”, our artists see through new eyes as they gain a deeper understanding of visual aesthetics and the difference between taking a photo and capturing a breathtaking moment in time. 

In this learning module, our graduating students were given the challenge of exploring the contemporary issue of nationhood and identity by reimagining the design of a Singapore dollar note. Our artists were encouraged to establish a deeper understanding of the evolution of money and the modern issue of counterfeit production, and to think critically about how the dollar note symbolises a society’s hopes and ambitions. The varied results demonstrate each child’s earnest tribute and dream for our nation, Singapore.
