“Something that makes PL really special to me is the teachers, who are able to put themselves in our shoes and make a tremendous effort to keep their lessons engaging. During this circuit breaker period, the teachers even go the extra mile to send videos of themselves exercising to encourage us to stay active!”
“PL is my home and family. Our special culture and community is like no other. I have met lifelong friends and caring teachers that genuinely support me. Entering PL is the best choice I have made and I thank God for placing me here. To God be the Glory!”
“PL is an inclusive school which places our values and loving God above everything else. Our HEART values are very close to us and followed. This leads us to be united as a school especially when it comes to events like the school’s Sports Day.”
“My experience in PL for the past 3 years was a blissful one. Not only was I an introvert, I am also a little socially awkward and had little self-confidence, which gave me a hard time making new friends. Thankfully, I met a group of friends that helped me get rid of my social awkwardness and be more confident!”
“Something every PL-Lite will find special about PL is the friends they make and the classmates they have. Since I was not from PLMGS(Primary), I did not have any friends in my class. At first, I felt left out. However, my classmates were very nice and introduced themselves to me. Slowly, I made new friends and forged new friendships.”
“My first leadership experience in PL was in Secondary 2, as chairwoman of the student-led Programme Committee for Teachers’ Day. Inexperienced as I was then, my teachers took a chance on me. ‘Girls can be more’ has always been, and always will be PL’s heartbeat. This belief has shaped who I am as a leader, and a citizen of Singapore’s tomorrow.”
“PL has provided me with multiple opportunities to step out of my comfort zone and step up to lead. Whether it is being a Class Monitor or a CCA leader, I have been given opportunities to take part in planning of events like the school’s CCA Fair.”
“I am honoured to be a PL-lite. Apart from academic pursuit, PL has also equipped me the skillset to be a leader. I am grateful for all the opportunities given so that I can develop competencies and positive attitudes of what a woman of fine character should be.”
“PL in a nutshell is my second home. It's a warm, welcoming environment with friendly faces everywhere. My personal experiences in PL have been extremely memorable, from every celebration to tough times, there's always support that binds us together as a school. The teachers are approachable and are always there to lend a helping hand. The students are friendly and cheerful. I think PL is a very special place and has brought upon many smiles. It is a place for growing, learning and where lifelong friendships are fostered.”
“PL has given me many opportunities to plan for schoolwide events like the Secondary 1 iDiscover camp and inter-school events such as the Leadership Conference 2019. Through planning these events, I have learnt many valuable lessons such as learning to work with leaders from various levels and different leadership bodies.”
“When I first joined EL Drama, my seniors were very welcoming. There was once when we had to practise for a performance. The senior that led us was very friendly, so it did not take long before I was comfortable with her. With her help, we were able to perform the skit confidently.”
“The parents in PL work closely with the teachers and school leaders to bring out the best in the girls to realise their fullest potential. I actively participated in Parents-School Support Group (PSSG) activities and witnessed the living out of the school’s H.E.A.R.T. values as well as the love and care for the girls, not only in their academic pursuit but also moral and emotional development. Girls are constantly taught to be a blessing to their families and communities that they live in.”
“PL is well-known for its holistic education with an emphasis on character development. All my three girls enjoyed a rich and happy schooling experience in PL. The girls strive not just for academic excellence, but also develop strong character and moral values. They are also equipped with valuable life skill.”
“We chose PL for our daughters because the school is well-known for its holistic education with a good balance between character development and academic excellence. We felt that it was important to find a school that would also teach our daughters important values and have an inclusive environment to grow up. The teachers are attentive and approachable. We also love the range CCAs that the school offers. Our daughters excel after they came to PL. It was a right choice to make for both of our girls.”
“PL has definitely surpassed our expectations. Through the years, we had experienced the strong Spirit of Faithfulness, Discipline and Camaraderie in many areas of our girls’ school life. We had also observed how these values had developed them into confident young ladies of fine character. Thank you PLMGS(Sec)!”
“My wife and I are thankful for the opportunity given to our daughter to pursue her secondary school education at PL. We are drawn to PL for her emphasis on character building apart from the academic pursuits. We are also grateful for the caring and dedicated teachers. Apart from these, we observe that the school has a strong Parents-School Support Group.”
“PL is an outstanding school with a rich Christian heritage. It provides a conducive and nurturing environment for my daughter. It also strikes a holistic balance between academic excellence and character development. With the extremely devoted staff, there is continual efforts in making teaching and learning relevant and current for the students. In particular, there is a great emphasis on building up future-ready knowledge and skills. we witness the remarkable transformation in my daughter as she grows in confidence in engaging in various current issues. We are also appreciative of the school for being rooted in good values and in intentionally inculcating character building in all their students. There are numerous platforms to grow the students in discipline, communication and leadership skills. Above all, we are thankful to see that our daughter is enjoying her time in school. She looks forward to attending school every day!”
“I want to thank first the school leaders and teachers for making my daughter's journey in PL a memorable one. I have also made many friends as we serve together in the PSSG. Like the school motto says, we will continue to "Look Up Lift Up".”
“PL is a dynamic and forward looking school with a rich history. It has garnered strong support from both her alumni and the Christian Ministry. The school always has the best interest and welfare of the students and staff at heart. In my interactions with many of the students and former students, I see them exemplifying the virtue of fine character and the pursuit of great passion for life and learning.”
“PL cares about catering to the needs of students with different backgrounds, needs, and interests. As long as you are willing to put in the effort, there is something for you - to explore, to stretch yourself, to grow in ways you never imagined.”
“In my classroom, students explore their self-identity through making music and writing pop songs. They are highly engaged during their pop band jamming sessions. Through musical experiences in and out of the classroom, I hope to not only nurture musical, but creative and confident PL-Lites.”
“The best times to experience the community spirit and spontaneity of PL-Lites are during National Day Celebrations and Teacher's Day. You will never experience similar levels of cheering and singing anywhere else. The atmosphere is exhilarating!”
“The PL culture can be likened to a warm embrace that includes students of all backgrounds and embraces students into its fold and makes them feel they are an integral part of the PL family. I remember when working backstage during the bi-annual Symphony of Praise. Backstage, away from the audience, we see our students at their natural best. They whisper words of encouragement to each other just before they go on stage. If they notice any student who is feeling a little extra-anxious, the other students would cheer each other on and even come together in a collective hug to relieve the pre-performance jitters of their school-mates. What is amazing is that they offer this helping hand not only to their own performing arts CCAs but to others as well. There are many other examples of how students reach out to their fellow PL-Lites.
“Whenever a student takes pride in her work, I will be beaming with joy. To make learning more varied and fun, my students have created videos to make reading short stories more exciting and collaborated on an e-newsletter to build their writing skills. All that effort means the students understand the lesson better. Teacher-Student Relationship is an important part of the PL experience. Through one-to-one sessions and daily interaction with students, our students realise they have the potential to aspire to be greater. We leave no one behind and care for each other like family.”
“PL is a multicultural and safe environment, that provides the girls room to interact, bond and evolve into better leaders, citizens and scholars. The well-maintained school campus is not only visually pleasing to the eyes but also calming to the mind. The staff in PL contribute uniquely to the growth of the school both academically and spiritually. We are diverse in many ways and talents but unified as a team.”
“PL has been a place which provides many opportunities for the girls to make mistakes and learn from them and grow to be wiser, confident, responsible and resilient with a heart to serve the community. When the alumni return to school after graduation, they reminisce the wonderful times they had and how much they miss the teachers, friends, the love, care and concern shown by all. The friends that they have made here are those that they really treasure for life.”
“In PL, every student is given the opportunity to explore their interests and harness their talents. We are a close knit family that believes in nurturing every student. We value the joy of learning and believe that our students will be able to find meaning in their learning and grow into women with strong values.”
