Highlights
Every student in Meridian has an opportunity to play classroom instruments such as the xylophones, metallophones, resonator bells, and percussion instruments. Playing musical instruments develop important skills such as listening and coordination. By participating in music-making activities, Meridians learn the importance of rhythmic and pitch accuracy in music. Our students are always eager to play instruments.
The keyboard programme is conducted for all P3 and P4 students to equip them with basic keyboard skills. The lessons provide hands-on experience for students to learn basic piano skills such as finger positions, left hand chords, melody playing and the C Major scale. Our students enjoy this programme thoroughly.
Our Primary 5 students are given the opportunity to learn how to play the ukulele. They learn basic strumming patterns, and basic chords such as C major, A minor, F major and G major. They learn to strum the chords to simple songs. The students become proficient in strumming the ukulele. They are also able to strum and sing at the same time. We are very proud of them.
Our Primary 6 students are given the opportunity to learn how to play the Classical guitar. They learn basic strumming patterns, and basic chords such as G major, E minor, C major and D major. We are also proud to say that the students are provided with our own Guitar Resource Booklet, to facilitate learning. Students are able to keep a copy, to practice the guitar at home.
We infuse technology in the learning of music. Our students use iPads to create and perform music. Music applications we use with the students include; Music Sparkles, Garage Band, and iGuzheng.
PAM Express
PAM Express is a fortnightly PE & Aesthetics programme that provides our students the platform to showcase their interests and passion in sports, visual arts and music. Occasionally, we have special guest appearances by members of staff from our school including teachers and administrative staff. One of our aims is to inspire our Meridian family to engage in sports, art and music. Students are welcomed to approach their relevant PE, Art and Music teachers should they be interested to showcase themselves participating actively in sports, engaging in visual arts and performing music.
Meridian’s Got Talent
Meridian’s Got Talent is an annual event organised for students to showcase their musical talents (singing, dancing, playing instruments, beatboxing, rapping) as part of our Children’s Day Celebrations. In this competition, Meridians are invited to submit their video auditions to the teacher-in-charge. There are two categories:
Category A – Individual
Category B – Group
Family members are also encouraged to participate with their children as a family bonding activity. To date, we have had a few joint performances by parents and children.
Visual Art
The aim of our visual art education is to enable every student to be an active learner of Art, enjoy art-making processes, communicate visually, and make meaning through connecting with society and culture.
To help facilitate students’ learning, the following three focus areas are drawn up and covered at each level so that different themes, art genres and medium are fully explored.

Music Day for P1 and P2
P1 & P2 Music Day is a yearly event where our lower primary students are given the opportunity to perform as a class on stage through singing and movement. Through each performance, we aim to develop listening and ensemble performance skills in our students. At the same time, students gain self-confidence through performing on stage. Our students learn to respect their peers, look out for visual cues from their music teachers, and feel a sense of identity to the class.
Meridian Teacher Band – Seven One Street
Introducing our group of teachers who are passionate about music-making. Modeling the way is what we teachers do. We want to inspire our Meridian students to immerse themselves in music. Our teacher band was set up in 2022, and we have helmed certain events such as National Day Celebrations and Children’s Day Celebrations, to lead the whole school in singing as one big family. Hearing the chorus of our children’s voices greatly touched our hearts, and we strive to continue to keep the spirit of music alive through our example!
