Launched in 2022, Math Games @ Recess is an initiative by Innova Primary School designed to engage students in applying their mathematical knowledge, concepts, and skills in a fun and collaborative way. This daily recess-time programme is facilitated by our dedicated Primary 3 to Primary 6 Mathematics Leaders, who manage and guide students as they explore a wide range of math-related games.
Students are encouraged to play independently or with peers, offering opportunities to practise self-discipline, teamwork, and critical thinking. Through activities such as puzzles, strategy games, and creative math challenges, students develop essential mathematical skills—including logical reasoning, strategic planning, and inventive thinking—while deepening their conceptual understanding.
By fostering a fun and inquiry-based approach to learning, Math Games @ Recess nurtures a love for Mathematics and cultivates a positive learning culture that extends beyond the classroom.
Sudoku is a great way to develop mathematical thinking, particularly in the area of logical deduction. At Innova Primary School, we organise Sudoku Friendly Matches in Term 2 and Term 4 to provide students from Primary 3 to Primary 6 with the opportunity to strengthen their combinatorial thinking skills in an engaging and challenging format.
These matches encourage students to apply logic, strategy, and pattern recognition—essential components of mathematical problem-solving—while fostering focus, perseverance, and a love for numbers. Through friendly competition, pupils not only sharpen their reasoning skills but also build confidence and camaraderie across levels.

Started in 2020, Math is Fun! is a series of engaging online activities designed for Primary 1 to Primary 6 students. Rolled out during Term 3 as part of a scheduled two-period Math lesson, this annual initiative reinforces classroom learning while providing students with additional opportunities to practise and apply mathematical concepts in a dynamic and enjoyable way.
Conducted in a fun and friendly competitive format, the activities aim to spark joy in learning and encourage active participation. Through these games, students strengthen their understanding of one or two key concepts learnt during that year while developing confidence and enthusiasm for the subject. One winner from each class will emerge from the competition and receive a prize in recognition of their effort and achievement.
