Multiple Pathways in our Education System
Over the years, MOE has undertaken many changes to nurture the joy of learning in students and provide multiple pathways and opportunities to cater to different strengths and interests. Look at the diagram above, which illustrates the overview of education pathways in Singapore's education system. Do you know that education pathways in Singapore used to be much simpler in the past? Your parents and teachers definitely did not have the wide array of choices that are available to you!
Today, you have much greater flexibility in the pathway you choose, and it's easier for you to move from one pathway to another, based on your strengths and aspirations. For example, some of you may have had the opportunity to take certain subjects at a higher level if you've demonstrated your mastery in those subjects.
What does this greater amount of choice mean for you?
In order to benefit from the wide array of choices that are available to you, it means that you'll need to put in more effort in finding out more about the different pathways that are available to you. Only then can you confidently say that the choice you make is the right one in helping you to achieve your full potential!
It also means that there is more than one pathway that will lead you to your goal.

Need for Lifelong Learning
Watch the video above on what the future of jobs will be like.
The video talks about how forces such as automation will cause 85 million jobs to be displaced over the next five years. How many more jobs do you think will be displaced when it's eventually your turn to enter the workforce?
What is the solution?
As the video suggests, 1 in 2 people will need to undergo reskilling, and update 40% of their skill set to adapt to the changing labour market.
It is therefore vital that you enter your post-secondary education institute and eventually the workforce with the disposition of lifelong learning.
Your learning doesn't end just because you've entered the workforce!
