Presently, I am an Associate at WongPartnership LLP (Corporate and Commercial Disputes). I enjoy the hard work and the cut and thrust of private practice and litigation, and I am passionate about honing my oral and written advocacy skills. Jaxsen is a design engineer at Dyson, where he has been contributing to innovative projects for the past two years. Most notably, he was part of the team behind the recent launch of the Dyson OnTrac headphones. Starting his journey at Dyson through the company’s graduate program, Jaxsen has worked on a range of cutting-edge initiatives and remains actively involved in outreach efforts with the James Dyson Foundation. In 2023, Jaxsen earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (NUS). He is currently pursuing further studies at his alma mater to deepen his expertise in engineering and design. Passionate about his craft, Jaxsen believes that enjoying your work is the key to excelling in it. Join to hear first-hand about what inventing the future is like at Dyson and how our Research, Design and Development (RDD) engineers have reimagined engineering.
Graduating from Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Cindy began her career at Dyson nearly two years ago as a Human Factors and Insights Engineer, contributing to multiple haircare projects. In this role, Cindy planned and conducted user trials, gaining insights into user behaviour and experience on the products in development. She worked closely with the design engineers, providing actionable recommendations to continuously improve the product design quality. Now Cindy is taking on a new role as a Design Engineer, diving deeper into the engineering aspect of the products, designing and building innovative haircare products that will disrupt the market. Outside of work, Cindy enjoys exploring Singapore with her camera, capturing unique perspectives of the cityscape during photo walks. Join Cindy to hear first-hand about what inventing the future is like at Dyson and how our RDD engineers have reimagined engineering.

"I was in the University Scholars Programme and graduated with a Bachelor’s with Honors in Life Sciences from the National University of Singapore (NUS). I embarked on a four-year scholarship bond with the Ministry of Education and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education prior to teaching at Nan Hua High School. During this time, I pursued dual postgraduate degrees: a Master of Science in Applied Physics and a Master of Arts in Education Leadership and Management. Upon fulfilling my scholarship obligations, I returned to NUS to complete a PhD in Mechanobiology with a research focus on investigating the mechanical influence of apoptotic cell extrusion on surrounding tissue. Following my PhD, I worked under a A*STAR Industry Alignment Fund – Industry Collaboration Project (IAF-ICP) which led to a venture through the NUS Graduate Research Innovation Programme (GRIP) and the successful patenting of a cell-culture platform, “Cell-Culture Platform and A Magnetic Material For Such A Platform” (Singapore: 11202308413V; US: 20240287433). While developing my deep tech enterprise, I concurrently pursued an Executive MBA. I was also awarded the NUS Ministry of Education decentralized GAP fund for my project on “A Hydrogel Composition, A Method Of Preparing The Same And Uses Thereof” (PCT/SG2024/050270). I am also currently an Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellow working on “AI-assisted microscopy image analysis in mechanobiology for tissue fluidization”. For the dialogue session, I will be sharing about my research interests and experience encompassing AI applications in science, myocardial regeneration, radiobiology, and age-related diseases."

Stephanie Loo is with the Franklin Templeton's Financial Institutions team, where she manages Retail distribution channels, with a primary focus on Private Banks and Family Offices. She accumulated over 13 years of extensive expertise in the Wealth Management industry, specializing in tailoring bespoke investment solutions for High-Net-Worth Individuals (HNWIs) in Singapore. Before joining Franklin Templeton, Stephanie served as a Client Advisor at UBS AG. Her banking journey commenced in 2010 with Standard Chartered Bank. In the formative years of her career, she held the role of an Auditor at Ernst & Young LLP, Global Financial Services. Stephanie is a graduate of Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons).

In her free time, she enjoys hobbies such as scrapbooking, making coffee and going on hikes. Shana is a Social Work Associate from ResiL!ence at SHINE. She has been passionate about helping others since she was in secondary school when she was a peer support leader. Today, she works with youths and support them alongside their mental health journey. Outside of work, she enjoys hobbies including walking, journaling and taking pictures. This career dialogue session by SHINE Children and Youth Services provides an overview of the social service sector, and the services provided at SHINE to support individuals in need. It highlights key professions such as social workers and counsellors, discussing educational pathways, qualifications required, and potential remuneration. Dr Shina Leow is a lecturer from the Diploma in Sport Coaching at the School of Sports and Health, Republic Polytechnic. She is an accomplished sport scientist and educator with a Ph.D. in Sport Science, Exercise, and Health from the University of Western Australia. Her years of experience in research and applied performance analysis has contributed to advancing the field through both academia and industry. Dr Shina has held pivotal roles not only in Republic Polytechnic but also at institutions that support national athletes such as the National Youth Sports Institute. Her work has earned significant research funding and international recognition, including publications in leading sports science journals and notable conference presentations.

I have been working with ARTC for six years as part of the machining team, specializing in precision engineering design. My role focuses on customizing machining processes to create tailored remanufacturing solutions that address specific needs and repairs. Among the projects I had worked on were designing custom fixtures to securely hold aircraft blades and developing an automated centering system for precise component positioning before machining on CNC machines. I will be sharing the some of the engineering research work that has been done and the wonders of research field for Advanced Remanufacturing Technologies.
