2. (Moderate Commitment) Regular-commitment volunteering opportunities
3. (Low Commitment) Event-based, One-off volunteering opportunities
You may contact the organization to find out more about the details where necessary. Please follow the stated sign-up instructions in the descriptions.
Note:
Organizations are arranged in alphabetical order.
This page will be updated as and when new opportunities come in. Students are encouraged to check the site regularly for updates.
Self Sourced VIA Opportunities
You may also source for your own VIA opportunities with other community organizations that you are interested to serve in. However the opportunities sourced should be with reputable, established community organizations.
When seeking VIA opportunities, please adhere to the following guidelines:
Be polite in all correspondence with the organization
Only commit to the opportunity if you are very sure you are able to commit to it. Once you have committed, do not decline or pull out as it reflects poorly on your responsibility as an individual.
Be prompt in your responses
Do not overcommit! Make sure you check against your schedule and ensure there are no clashes.
You should NOT be accepting any salary from the organizations as this is strictly your service to the community.
During your VIA, you are expected to represent the school with excellence in conduct and responsibility. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
Report to sessions punctually.
If you are unwell and can't be at any of the sessions scheduled, immediately inform your point of contact.
Dress appropriately according to the session requirements.
Complete all assigned tasks to the best of your ability.
Engage fully in all activities. If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to ask for clarification.
Observe and learn from the practices of the organizations.
Respect confidentiality: Do not post on social media if there is sensitivity of beneficiaries involved - please seek permission from the organization first.
Avoid using inappropriate language during the sessions. Be sensitive to the needs and circumstances of your beneficiaries and avoid comments that could potentially hurt or offend them.
Minimise personal phone use, texting, or social media activity during your sessions, or avoid it altogether if possible.
Reflect on your daily experiences and record them in your ECG Portfolio.
VIA hours can be awarded for GAP Programme (Applicable only to VIA Involvements/Events) only if you are able to submit an official VIA record - officially issued from the community organization with your full name, hours and nature of your involvement clearly stated. Records should be submitted via this google form by the end of Term 1: https://forms.gle/tjZ9MbXQuwYNhdcu5
Should there be missing supporting documents and incomplete responses in this google form, we will NOT key in the VIA hours into the system for you. The VIA Committee will also assess all records submitted to ensure that the nature of activities stated can be recognized as service to the community before keying in the records into the system.

Creative movement is where we involve daily objects we see around our surroundings. By this, we actually uses mental images (dance imagery) to stimulate, recall physical movement and reinforcing the seniors’ kinetic memory.
The aim for this programme is to make the process of ageing a dynamic and meaningful one, and for the seniors to have a sense of connection and control over their bodies, however abled they are. It also improve residents’ well-being and perception of quality of life through positive mind-body connect and social interaction.
We encourage the residents to re-look at their everyday surroundings and activities, to find new meanings and
relationships to them. The everyday can be interesting and purposeful.

Taman Jurong Youth Network
Taman Jurong Constituency Office together with Taman Jurong Youth Network will be happy to host a team of students for this. The team can expect to experience a mix of regular volunteering initiatives on weekends (where they turn up on the day of the event) and 1-2 event-based volunteering initiatives (with pre-event planning and post-event follow-up) that will be either on weekday evenings or a weekend.
No prior experience is required as the initiatives we have identified below are introductory in nature. If possible, we would have a slight preference for students who are living within/near Taman Jurong or who are interested to volunteer long-term in Taman Jurong.
For the best experience, we would recommend that students do at least one regular volunteering initiative highlighted below and at least one event-based volunteering initiative highlighted below. This should take up an aggregate of around 15-18 hours (3 x half-days).
Regular volunteering initiatives
For the regular volunteering initiatives, the dates are tentatively as follows:
1. 11/18 January mornings (Saturday) - students will help out at a yearly welfare event where we distribute welfare hong bao packets to Taman Jurong seniors. We are expecting more than 2,000 seniors over around 10 sessions.
2. 18 January (around 3pm to 8pm) / 19 January (9am to 1pm) / 25 January (9am to 4pm) - students will help out at Edusave ceremonies where primary / secondary school students residing in Taman Jurong collect their education awards.
For both volunteering initiatives, students can expect to be involved in registration, ushering and crowd control.
Event-based initiatives
For event-based initiatives, the dates are still flexible and subject to the availability of our community partners as well. Two projects that we are exploring are as follows:
1. Project Elderheart (weekday afternoon/evening) - a befriending session with elderly residents at THK Active Ageing Centre @ Taman Jurong. The session may be Chinese New Year themed and would involve around 20 elderly residents.
2. YOU-th Access (weekend half-day) - a half-day “behind-the-scenes” tour for TJ residents to a part of Singapore not usually accessible to members of the public. These can be places of cultural/historical significance to Singapore, or an industry visit to a business operating within Singapore.
For the event-based initiative, students can expect to be involved with planning the event (e.g., publicity, logistics, programmes) as well as post-event follow up (e.g., post-event emails to participants, post-event publicity). We may require the students to be available in December and early February for this as well.
Interested students can write to Ms Ng Ming Min (NG_Ming_Min@pa.gov.sg)
and Mr Teh Chee Yang (teh.cheeyang@tjyouthnetwork.sg) to indicate their interest and availability by 23 November 2024 (Friday), and we should be able to confirm the selection by early December.

This organisation conducts a range of activities at their Active Ageing Centres, from physical exercises, cognitive activities, learning classes, and social gatherings and outings.
Opportunities
On a weekly basis, more than 60 programs are conducted, and students can volunteer to help out in these programmes.
We are also open to students proposing activities to be conducted (so long as no gambling and no meat involved). Some examples given include conducting digital literacy classes, such as in the use of generative AI tools that are relevant in raising the seniors' quality of life, organising outings for the seniors such as to the Science Centre or the Chinese Garden, conduct classes on healthy eating / drinking, pair up with seniors in Nintendo sports, or to assist in the collection and distribution of bread from BreadTalk outlets at West Gate.
Commitment & Duration of Sessions: No requirements, the organisation leaves it up to students to decide, though they do recommend about 1-2 hours per week. If students want to propose activities, the recommended duration is 1 hour per session.
Procedures to register & point of contact: Email Mr Lee Weng Foo (Centre manager) at wengfoo.lee@tzuchi.org.sg to find out more
Any selection procedures (if have): No selection procedures, except the need to be respectful. In general, this organisation is quite flexible and easy-going
